Olympics are going off!
Whistler is a Zoo!
Never in my 6 years of living here has the town had the energy and the enthusiasm that is being felt right now. So far I have watched free concerts, Cheered my countrymen (and women!) on and even seen my first event!
On day 2 I was offered a ticket to Men’s Luge singles qualifying. It was an amazing event even with the tragedy of the day before. Before the event start there was a moment of silence held for Nodar Kumaritashvili. It was certainly just one of the amazing moments I have experienced in the past couple of days!
Day 3 was a big one! Canada won our first gold on home soil. When Alex Bilodeau was announced as the winner of Freestyle Moguls Whistler erupted in cheer!! Truly heart warming, it made me so proud to be Canadian. Canada also received bronze in 3000m Long track speed skating thanks to Kristina Groves! Wow!!

Nodar Kumaritashvili Vigil in Whistler
Even thought the day was marked with tragedy there is still an overwhelming sense of Olympic spirit running through Whistler. I’ll be taking photos and updating this blog as often as I can during the time of the Whistler and Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter games.
